Shipping, lead times and customs
Mascot costumes are light but bulky, which makes freight a real part of the cost. Here is how we ship, what each method costs in time, and how to avoid the two mistakes that delay deliveries.
Shipping methods
Express courier (DHL, FedEx, UPS)
3-7 days door to doorThe default for one to three costumes. Priced on volumetric weight, so a vacuum-packed suit costs far less than a boxed one. Duties usually collected by the courier on delivery unless we ship DDP.
Air freight
7-12 days airport to doorEconomical from roughly four costumes upward. We can deliver to your freight forwarder or arrange door delivery with customs clearance included.
Sea freight (LCL)
25-45 days port to portFor volume orders of ten pieces and up where the date allows. Lowest cost per unit by a wide margin; add two weeks of buffer for port congestion.
Consolidated with other goods
VariesIf you are already importing from China, we can deliver to your consolidator's Shenzhen or Guangzhou warehouse at no freight cost from us.
How we pack
- Bodies vacuum-packed where the construction allows, cutting volumetric weight by up to half
- Heads boxed with internal foam bracing so the sculpt cannot be crushed
- Silica gel in every head to control humidity during sea transit
- Battery packs shipped in accordance with air-cargo lithium rules, declared correctly
- The whole shipment photographed as packed before the box is sealed
Customs documentation
We prepare a commercial invoice, packing list and the HS code your broker needs. Mascot costumes normally classify under HS 9505 or 6114 depending on construction and destination — we will state which we have used and adjust it if your broker prefers a different classification.
DDP and duties
We can quote DDP (delivered duty paid) to most destinations, which gives you a single landed number with no surprise invoice from the courier. If you prefer to clear the goods yourself, we ship DAP and hand you the documents.
The two things that delay deliveries
An incomplete delivery address — couriers in many countries will not deliver without a phone number that answers, and a company name that matches the door.
Approval delays at the proof stage. Production time is fixed; approval time is not. A proof that sits unanswered for six days moves your delivery date by six days.
